With the newly updated Tumblr for Android, using the mega-popular blogging platform and social network on the go is a breeze.

The app allows you to create and publish posts, read posts from bloggers you follow, and manage your account settings.

All through a beautiful interface with clear images and extremely simple navigation.

And if you're not already a Tumblr user, you can even create an account right from the app.

The application is synchronized + interface

Just like when you connect to Tumblr on the web, the Android app opens directly to your Dashboard.

Where you see your main feed, with all the latest posts from the blogs you follow.

Things are arranged in reverse chronological order, so you can scroll down to see older posts.

As you approach the bottom of the screen, the app will automatically reload, so you can scroll virtually forever.

To update the list of posts you can pull from top to bottom

The Dashboard interface looks a lot like the full version of Tumblr for the web, except for a few items.

For one, all the images are static, which is a huge disappointment since animated GIFs are a huge part of the Tumblr community.

As it stands now, the app forces you to click on these GIFs to see their animations in action, and that can be annoying if you're used to quickly scrolling through your feed.

Also, the dashboard doesn't include featured Tumblr users like it does on the web, which leaves you with fewer channels to discover new content.

How to use the Tumblr app

At the bottom of each post, you'll see buttons for blogging or liking, as well as hyperlinked tags that make it easy to quickly engage with a post or follow specific topics as you scroll through the feed.

The navigation bar at the top of the app is as simple as it gets, with three navigation tabs.

The first tab takes you to your feed and the second tab shows tags and a search module.

On the third tab, you'll find notifications and Tumblr profile details, as well as links to settings and a menu for searching Tumblr blogs by category.

With the latest app update, the create post functions have been integrated into an unobtrusive round button that sits at the bottom of the screen.

This little button, when tapped, opens six more buttons for video, chat, link, quote, photo, and text posts.

A good photo editor and social network

Post editors, while convenient and simple, are noticeably more basic than their web counterparts.

For example, the text post editor lacks formatting buttons to make text bold, create bullet lists, and add other styling elements.

The photo post editor only allows you to add one photo, while the full web version allows you to add up to ten.

Also, there is no button to create audio posts like on the web.

One thing that editors include, however, is the ability to save drafts and schedule them for later publication, which is convenient.

If you own a blog on Tumblr, frankly, this mobile app is a must.

It makes it incredibly easy to post any type of media to your site, and it provides a nice interface for keeping up with the Tumblr blogs you follow.

Also, Tumblr is one of the oldest social networks on the internet and many people still use it as their main social network.

You will see that there are some very old content creators on the platform, so have fun and enjoy!
